Review Arte & Ascendance of the Bookworm

I'd watched this two anime and somehow got me reflecting about my life and future. This two anime, called Arte and The Ascendance of the Bookworm are a different genre anime but for me, they have alot of similarities in a different way.

Let's start from Arte, they gave the tittle Arte from the name of the main character itself. The story is about a girl's name Arte who was born on a Nobel family, she really loves painting and luckily her father allowed her and does letting her to do what she loves to. Her life is not going smoothly after her father died. Arte's mother forced her into a marriage life since her family quickly drowning from the noble life because her mother doesn't have someone to rely on.

In this situation, Arte chose a rough path, she leaves her wealthy life and chose her carrier instead to be one of the painter apprentice.

But since Arte was a noble birth, and a woman, she can't be a painter. All of the master in Florence, did refuse her to be their apprentice, except for this old man named Leo.

Despite the facts that Arte is a noble birth and a woman, Leo asked her to come to his place and tested her, then, the stories continues with a bunch of different problem and a wonderful plot twist.

Arte did reflects herself when somebody told her this, "Being a noble birth, as well as having an education, while being an unusual female painter is truly, a marvelous thing."
Since Arte always got so much rejection in her past, she doesn't really know that in other person perception, her live is a marvellous thing that make someone envious.

That's for Arte, move on to the 'Ascendance of the Bookworm,' a story about girl named Motosu Urano, she reincarnated on a 5 years old girl body named Maine who lived on a past century when books are still rare and really pricey.

In her past lives, Urano dreamed to be a librarian, she really loves books. But after she reincarnated on Maine's body, her life's did change a lot.

Maine was born as a commoner, her father is a gatekeeper and she lived in downtown part of the city. Maine's life is not a type of life that Urano wanted and dreamed of.

A book during that time, is something that really valuable. Books are something that a noble have. In that era, a commoner can't even touch a book without a gold coin as a change. A books are saved on a glass box with a lock on it. The books on that century are made from an animal skin, that's why it's so precious.

As a Bookworm, Maine really want to read a book, or at least a word, but she ain't got anything written in a paper! Then, Maine decided to make books by herself, she starts by learn the alphabets, number, then she learns to read. (reading and writing is an uncommon thing, since she is a commoner not a noble.)

After she's fluent on both reading and writing, Maine try alot of different process of making paper, the story continues untill she made an organic paper, then level up to a picture book. Maine's did also share her 'future lifestyle,' she share unsual recipe, ways to knit, she did even sell alot of usual things in her life's as a Urano, yet it's a unique things in Maine's life.

In the last episode, Maine's now becoming one of a temple maiden apprentice (a head Priest chose her) that wearing a blue robe, she is continuing her lives on a noble society and a merchant.

Both of this film, somehow connectable, at first, I thought being a noble is a worth living, but after looking at Arte's story, it's not really that convenient, she's not really enjoyed and wanted to be one of them. After I watched Maine's life as a commoner, is not a worth life either, cause she can't even work properly as a successful merchant and a temple maiden apprentice without being called a commoner and getting humiliated by other.

Yet, all of this disadvantage also have a advantage point too. If Arte was born as a commoner and a man, she would have the same ordinary lifes as a painter apprentice without having that much rejection, she would never have that strong personality and a interesting story.
It's the same thing with Maine's life, if she was born as noble birth, she would definitely spend her time on reading books, rely on her parents, would never try hard to spent her time to make one of them, would never dreamed hard to make a dozens of books and a librarian.

After watching this two, I feel so grateful, I born on a era where a Nobel and a commoner did have the same rights and access on life. I born on the times where books are a common things and accesable.

Both Arte and Maine lives on a century where woman, and a commoner doesn't have the same rights, it's a terrible life to imagine of, they make me realize that life this day is something that we should grateful for.
